When Ballad first arrived, she was so terrified that she wouldn’t move, wouldn’t explore, and wouldn’t even eat if people were in the same room. Fear had convinced her that the world didn’t feel safe. So today, when she walked in, picked out her favorite recipe, and ate with us sitting right there, we all just looked at each other with the biggest smiles. Moments like this may seem small, but they’re actually huge. They’re the quiet signs that a broken heart is beginning to heal. Thank you to everyone who helped us name her. 💛 We chose the name Ballad because a ballad is a story, a song of heartbreak and hope, of surviving the unimaginable and finding light again.
