Promising hockey player Stacey-Lynn Kenny, 19, and her father, Corey Kenny, 48, died after the motorcycle they were riding collided with another vehicle and a moose in Aquaforte, Newfoundland, on June 22. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the other vehicle was treated by paramedics and did not require further medical care. Authorities continue to investigate the crash. Stacey-Lynn was a standout player for the Triple-A Eastern Ice Breakers and was remembered by coaches and teammates as a leader who brought positivity to everyone around her. Coach Tony Goobie described her as someone admired by both teammates and coaches, while coach Tom Walsh recalled how she regularly brought the team together, even organizing early morning outings before games. Teammates said Stacey-Lynn’s energy, sense of humor, and kindness made a lasting impact. They remembered her as someone who could always make people laugh and lift the spirits of those around her, both on and off the ice. Following the tragedy, residents of her hometown of Bay Bulls honored Stacey-Lynn by placing hockey sticks and jerseys outside their homes as a tribute. Community members have rallied around the Kenny family, with many saying the overwhelming support reflects the close-knit spirit of Newfoundland’s hockey community. In recognition of Stacey-Lynn’s legacy, the Women’s Junior A Hockey League announced it will rename its season-long championship trophy the Kenny Cup. Stacey-Lynn had returned to play in the league after recovering from a lengthy hospitalization that kept her away from the game the previous season.#fyp #viral - @sacramentourbanmedia916
