I literally went to Bostons Children’s Hospital when I was 13 and they all were like idk what’s wrong with her all her tests came back normal and sent me back to my life even though I couldn’t walk for 2 months and my parents had to pull me out of school

Hey :
if you think AI will suddenly allow your doctor to diagnose all your mystery symptoms and cure you, i wouldnt get your hopes up. while that may be possible, what will actually happen is that it will be used as an efficiency tool, to force doctors to see even more patients in a day, or the same patient load with even less staff. your healthcare wont get better. it will just be more profitable for someone else.

Last month I had a kidney infection and went to urgent care and was sent home and told everything was fine. I knew I had one so followed up and the physician sent back an email said “please stop reading things online bc they are not applicable to your situation” ???? I never ONCE in the appt or over email mentioned anything about any info found online??? Anyway went to the ER and I had one. Me and chat gpt already knew that tho lol

I think AI could potentially be a great tool for us if used correctly, but sadly we live in a country that values profits over anything else. I hate how we’re building data centers so unethically because it’s the cheapest way to keep them cool when they’re other ways that would cause less damage to our environment in the long run. I also hate how it’s cause mass layoff and that we allow it to be legal. In China it’s legal to fire someone because AI can do the job. If we used it for the greater good it could make our lives easier and give us great insight but we would need to regulate it and approve of more socialist laws to protect the people, but I don’t think that’ll be happening since the top 1% is way too greedy. I honestly have been trying to reduce my use of AI since I found out how much damage it’s causing to the environment but sadly I haven’t been able to fully stop since it’s the only place I get answers to my complex illnesses. I haven’t POTS and have been getting worse or potentially another comorbidity and chatgbt has been the only think keeping me sane since it actually explains things to me in detail and explains why things are happening. If I could get such answers from my doctors I’d stop but my doctors honestly don’t do much to answer my questions and instead I have to do a bunch of research and offer them possible perspectives or treatment plans. 😭 So I do believe AI would be such a great tool in health care in both the patient and the doctor would be able to use it to see if there’s any correlation in symptoms and to rule out more complex illnesses they may not be as familiar with. I would personally love it in my doctors used AI in such a manner. I feel like it would also help them understand my illness better without them having to do hours or research they don’t have and would also help them not dismiss or make less of my illness and help them understand how truly complex it is. I would also love for it to give the more options in treatment plans they themselves may not have thought of or have been as familiar with.

As a person with multiple chronic illnesses that nobody understands AI in the hands of physicians is the only use of AI I feel good about.

I really dislike AI use in Google searches, in basic apps, I think it’s used too frequently and is often giving wrong answers and people don’t fact check. I’m against the AI data centers and the environmental damage etc. but if reponsible AI use is possible this is an example of it— for medical care and breakthroughs! More of these uses instead of making the ultra rich wealthier!

In Nov 2022 I put into ChatGPT something my child said to me about how he was feeling and asked it for a differential diagnosis list. It nailed his disease. It’s one in a million, he is one of handful of children on the country with this incredibly rare disease. Thankfully, we already had a diagnosis at this point but that’s because I flew all over the country taking him to the best doctors available. Making that available to everyone is exactly what makes AI an equalizer.

It can be very helpful in medicine. I just hope we have the right people developing and operating it. There are a lot of aspects to balance in this field still like ethics, privacy, accuracy, and efficiency.

Medicine is about more than diagnosis. A CXR might read pneumonia but if that person doesn’t have signs of infection and they’re treated with antibiotics, all that is accomplishing is increasing antibiotic resistance. A physician relying on AI without the nuance that comes from a patient’s clinical picture is putting patients at risk. There are some physicians that might have increased worry about job security due to AI, like radiologists. Most physicians can’t be replaced by AI.

I dont think any type of ai is worth the damage being done to our planet by data centers and im chronically ill and have in my past been misdiagnosed/not believed. maybe we should change our insurance and medical system to believe patients instead?!

I've said this since jump. A highly curated AI only being fed the highest quality data could be PHENOMENAL in medicine. However, the billionaires in control of it only want it for profit.
