It’s ok, and necessary, to take breaks when your body OR MIND, needs it! Your littles can miss a day or school if they are too overwhelmed. Your kiddos can sleep in and miss half the day once in a while because my mom always said “sleeping in meant your body must have needed!” She would notice when my anxiety was getting bad and I was feeling overwhelmed and she would let me stay home, no questions asked, no chores, no requirements to reset and just let myself breath. She also helped with my anxiety mantra of “is there anything you can do about the problem right now?” If so- do it now. If the answer is no, then “put it in your pocket and let it stay there until you CAN do something, or at least until tomorrow.”

To never let go first when your child hugs you. Let them hug you for however long they need that hug from you for. To always be the safe person they can come to without jumping to judgement or anger. But met with love, understanding and teaching. Having patience. Even when you’re struggling in that moment to do. Even if that means saying, “let me think on that.” So you can meet them where they need to be met at… side note. I didn’t learn this because my mom telling me this. It’s because I wasn’t met with it. Learning from my childhood trauma to not pass it on and stop the cycle.

I'll adopt you both! ❤️I'm 56 with two adult children. Unconditional love is what my mom has given me, and she's 78 and thriving! She's my best friend.

It’s important to tell your babies you will love them no matter what. You may hate what they DO/DID but you will ALWAYS love them.

as an ex-mo, I wished I had learned healthy consent, boundaries, a secure attachment style, and that you are allowed to have your wants/needs meet in a safe, secure relationship. I have taught these to my children and am so glad they didn't have to grow up like I did.

I am 60. Would love to answer any questions. My Mother and her Mother before her made every Holiday/Birthday very special. Go the Extra Mile. Doesn’t have to be expensive. Celebrate Life! Be creative. My Dad had his Private Pilot license. When we were in the car with my Mom she would pretend to fly the car. Only when others couldn’t see. If a car started coming towards us she would tap the break and act like she was landing the car. The Bumps in the road were turbulence. We loved it! 🤣🤣🤣Just make traditions and have fun.

I learned from my mom that her love was conditional. As a mom now my kid knows there’s nothing he could do to make me not love him.

As an adult & mother myself, my mother taught me that it is important to rest. You don’t have to try to do everything, all the time, by yourself.

Something I didn't learn as a child, but made an effort to teach my children, and can see they benefit from is to think through what the likely consequences of a given action are and make a decision about how comfortable they are living with them before acting too impulsively and then being surprised by something more or less inevitable and regretting it. (but without overdoing it and getting frozen by indecision) obviously for kids that's small stakes stuff like "if you climb that you'll be high up and need a way down" or "after you eat the last cookie, the cookies will be gone - so have a think about if you want it now or after dinner"

I learned to be a mom from my mom. She loves unconditionally and taught me to do the same. She taught me to be kind to my kids, to foster all their interests, and to always support my kids whether it’s pursuing their dreams or dealing with hardships.
