all the people that say “oh down syndrome people are just so joyful and cute” are looking at the version they deem the “cutest” time in that child’s life their not looking at the 40 year old who’s ripping their hair out and screaming because they can’t express what they want quality over quantity.

Knowing whether you can mentally and physically handle carrying and handling a child is an amazing 1st step into parenthood (if you decide to want one). Because when you actually sit down and write all YOUR pros and cons (bc its different for everyone) it helps you decide if that path is right for you, or if the time is even right for you. Think about where you are now vs where you want to be in 2-5 years. Want the best for you and your child. No one is ever gonna be 100% prepared for everything in their kids life, but they can make it easier when the problem comes, because you can think straight, youve had time to break your cycle and heal. Waiting to have a child until you feel fit is the best thing you can do for them.
