Yes, it was weird, some of us grew away from it knowing that it was extreme & didn’t want to bring our own kids up like we were, then you have Christian Nationalists who find this a sensible way to teach children & wonder why they lose their children to gun violence after watching the man get shot at & get up & walk away! It’s insanity!

VCS used to be used as a daycare when I was growing up in the eighties. The hateful, ignorant shit they drilled into our heads was awful. My cousin and I both lived in a low income neighborhood, the only two white kids there too, and I think the racism we faced at the church was the driving force behind my adult agnosticism. I'm just glad it didn't make me racist. The "teachers" there were the primary source of the racism. The other kids just followed their lead. The owner of the VCS place I attended also owns a juvenile detention facility, and the horror stories I could tell you about that place...!
