I started working from home at 30. It’s been 10hrs now. I use this knowledge to see old people because I understand what it’s like to be in public and not be seen. You can go out all we want but people are still alone. People surrounded by people are lonely. Lonely is a feeling … not a resolve for having people in our lives. I love my life now and love being alone because I changed my perspective. I love not going in to fake friends at work. I don’t have to carry anyone else’s drama. I have few solid friendships that count. No noise. I love it. But I totally understand what she’s feeling.

Working outside of the home is not always possible nowadays. Volunteering might be a good way to meet people with similar interests.

I can completely understand her and believe a lot of us are in the same boat. im a divorced empty nester that works from home and moved immediately before the pandemic that made it very hard to socialize and get to know people and now im too far to go to the office and its like life outside is just not welcoming anymore.

I prepared for this when my sons hit teenage years. I started playing tennis!! 61 years old now still playing (not very well) but still playing!

My husband and I relocated to FL a year ago where we knew no one. I joined a church, a women’s club, and Pilates. I have friends! You have to make an effort.

Im 58 and know how she feels. We moved to a different state last year and I cannot seem to meet new friends. Both my husband and I work from home however all my communication with my company is via Teams or email - I have no face to face contact. I took this remote job so we could move but also because we have numerous senior dogs and I wanted to be present for them. I do not agree that you have to work outside the home to have friends but you DO have to do something regularly outside the home.

I’m the same way and it has nothing to do with not wanting to be social but there’s nobody else out there who wants to be social either?and I had friends that dumped me as well for no good reason except they didnt have time for me anymore ? I’m like oh well OK!? 🙄👀
