@hiemilynoelle: According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), the woman, who has since been identified as 31 year old Brittany Clark, was hiking with friends near the Barr Street Trailhead in Little Big Econ State Forest when the group stopped to swim in the river around 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Officials said they were standing in approximately 3 feet of water. FWC’s Grant Eller noted that water levels in the area are lower than normal due to a statewide drought. That’s when the alligator bit Brittany. Tragically, she died on the way to the hospital. My heart aches for her friends and family.
