My mom used to sleep in the living room for years! It was next to kitchen and she could control our eating habits. She was mad if anyone opened the fridge without permission first, but was also mad if you wake her up 🥺

total control over the whole house. her bedtime is also everyone else's bedtime. controls the television. I've been yelled at so many times for tiptoeing to get a snack or to go to the bathroom.

not my parents but my older brother ALWAYSSS sleeps on the sofa, like he has a room with a massive bed, but he'll fall asleep on the sofa and then get pissed off and angry if someone wakes him up 🫠 living with him was miserable

My room is above her room, I can’t walk around after 9pm without having to hear about it the next day. It makes me scared to move around, to think multiple times if it’s worth it going to the toilet or getting something to eat late at night..

my mom did too but it only meant that any activities now are gonna be accompanied with blasting sleep apnea sounds and maybe a couple of farts

my mom slept in the living room because she was uncomfortable in her bed, my dad snored so loud and never turned off the TV at night, she had sleep apnea and felt better sleeping in the living room but she died at 53 from a heart attack because she never went to the doctor to see how she could fix anything.

I thought only my mom did this 😩😩😩 I can’t even go to the kitchen for a drink of water. There’s no room in the refrigerator for me to have my own groceries, yet she has a problem with me using the household food. The laundry room is next door to my step dad’s room, so I can wash clothes when I need to, it revolves around their schedule….i feel so limited and closed in, even as a 30 + individual

For a long time - I only found afford a nice bed for my kiddo so I slept on the couch and watched tv. I’m still a couch sleeper.

My mom exclusively sleeps in the living room and gets mad if I go to the kitchen for a water when she’s already sleeping because that wakes her up

I never ever controlled my kids and grandkids eating and if they were thirsty. They had a snack container and if they wanted something to drink they got it.

I would only be downstairs watching tv if my mom was asleep or not home or if her husband was not home . Because he snored he slept on thr couch rather than a different room . When I suggested just sleeping in s different room he cussed me out saying “ we might as well get divorced if I’m going to sleep in another room “ n im like I know plenty of married couples who sleep in different rooms because either they snore or their partner snores bad and they need sleep “ n hr just continued to cuss me out for it . Im no longer in that house but he still sleeps in the living room years later .

My parents hated each other but wouldn’t get divorced. My mom slept in the living room my entire life. Sadly when I was married I did the same thing too

How can I end this? I dislike the way my dad has been using the living room as his bedroom and gets mad at me because i talk “too loudly”. Mind you our living room is close to my bedroom and my bedroom is far from his bedroom
