@Nessie - Thank you for sharing your POV. I too hate misinformation so I can appreciate your passion. I wanted to hop in here and clarify a few things regarding your video response and my comment. I actually agree with many of the points made and I think that we might might be on similar pages, just discussing slightly different aspects of the breed history. A very large part of what I like to do with my breed videos is to consult with breed experts (many of which are also animal scientists who do contribute to the research) to help share ethical cat breeding information with the general public because we don’t talk about cats enough. I do not dictate what is or is not ethical (neither of us do for that matter). I simply enjoy trying to accurately represent each of our breeds alongside breed experts to the best of my own ability. I also thoroughly enjoy discussing the science behind these breeds when it’s applicable. I am a neuroscientist, a behavioral pharmacologist, and a cat fancier with a passion for educating others. That does not make me an expert in every breed, which is why I consult those who ARE experts in the process. However, this can also means that I can make mistakes when I’m trying to explain a breed concept (because I have to write these videos out with massive amounts of information included). I always clarify in the comments if I miss something though. I hope that this video helps to clarify a few things for anyone who might be confused about where I personally stand. I also think that it’s very important to make the distinction between hybridization and backcrossing here as well. I’d like to invite the actual breed experts to discuss this topic because quite frankly, I am not the expert when it comes to this field and I shouldn’t be the one to address this particular subject. As an academic scientist, we have a duty to accurately represent information in a non-biased way to the very best of our ability. When the science is applicable, I will ALWAYS provide DOIs or references so that others can cross check. I would appreciate seeing that from you as well. Lastly, it is important for both of us to acknowledge that neither of us can know everything 100% of the time. I personally feel that we both have valid points in this argument and a lot more to learn. It’s important to be open minded when it comes to science… I’m pretty sure we both know that very well. #greenscreenvideo #cattok #ethicalbreeding #savannah #bengal
