I understand this is to thin the hair, however when it starts to grow back the little hairs are going push the hair above it up creating a lot of volume. You also would need to cut the exact same spot each time otherwise you’re not really saving length because if you’re off you’re going to create rows of short hair

for those who dont know shes thinning the hair for someone who has very thick hair... or making room for extentions so they are not so bulky on the arch of the crown. would be my guess.

Yeahhh a hair dresser did this to me right at the top of my middle part to give me “volume”. I looked wild for months until it grew out some to where it wasn’t sticking straight up.

My Life :
I think this is a thinning technique for people with ridiculously thick hair. It’ll be nice for a few weeks then you’re going to have massive under coat growth and you’ll have ridiculous lift. Do not do this.
