Warning: this video is graphic. Watch the entire thing it’s important. On October 10 in Houston, Texas, ICE officer Mario “Bam” Morales chased a truck through a bakery parking lot. ICE says they were hunting a man who has been dead for nine years. When Miguel Parra Hernandez ran on foot, Morales steered his SUV into him and ran over both of his legs. His own bodycam caught it. Then he called 911 and said “he hit my car.” The victim has lived in Harris County for 30 years. No criminal record. No deportation order. Not even a pending case. ICE called the indictment “nothing more than a political stunt by Houston sanctuary politicians.” A grand jury of regular Harris County citizens saw the bodycam, the bakery footage and the 911 call, and indicted Morales for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He faces 2 to 20 years in prison. District Attorney Sean Teare, word for word: “An ICE badge does not give you free rein to injure, kill, or violate the constitutional rights of anyone. I hope that it also sends a loud and clear message to every ICE officer who feels that they have a free pass to terrorize our streets. The time to stop is now, and if you don’t, you will be held accountable.” No free rein. No free pass. Not in Houston, not anywhere. The Constitution still applies to ICE, and every grand jury in America now has the blueprint. Who is Morales? A 33 year old who ran for Congress as a Republican on border security and never made the ballot. A Trump ICE “surge hire.” The DA said no law enforcement agency he knows of would have hired him. His lawyer calls him a veteran. The Army says 23 months, never deployed. His lawyer calls him a pastor. He has a theft charge. No agency is above the Constitution. Not ICE. Not a presidential memo. Not anyone. Our rights hold up in court. Houston just proved it. And we will win. Courtesy/Source: Harris County DA, KHOU 11, AP, Texas Tribune, U.S. Army, Ballotpedia.
