@lucyexploringmotherhood: Our classroom today… CWMBRAN BOATING LAKE 🦆 📍Cwmbran, NP44 3GD Getting outside is my favourite 💚 Cwmbran boating lake is a local spot that we love to explore. We fed the ducks, saw some gorgeous moorhen babies (so tiny) and watched the parents feed them - a great conversation about how other species feed etc We threw stones & sticks in the water and discussed sinking/floating, why it happens, what direction the sticks went in and why. We saw dragonflies, butterflies, different types of flowers. There were swans with signets, we spoke about who was biggest and smallest. Climbing on trees, scootering, navigating different terrains, splashing in the river all help with motor skills. We counted the boy and girl ducks and George counted to 3 independently before throwing the food in. Then a play in the park to finish with around other children - George even went and gave another little boy a cuddle 🥰 All these conversations came naturally from observing the outside world and that’s why I love it! 🦶nice and flat when on the main path around the lake so suitable for wheelchairs, scooters etc 🪑 Benches scattered throughout or bring a blanket to sit on the grass 🚗 Free car parking (can get busy on weekends & school holidays) 🐶 Dog friendly (very popular with dog walkers) 🛝 massive play park 😋 Cafe serving light bites & ice cream #southwales #homeeducation #outdoorlearning #nature #exploringsouthwales
