The clinic was fairly quiet that afternoon. The sound of footsteps could occasionally be heard passing through the hallway, mixed with the faint sounds of medical equipment from the other examination rooms and the receptionist talking to a few patients. Miu sat in one of the waiting room chairs, occasionally pressing her cheek as she tried to ignore the throbbing pain that had been bothering her for a while. She actually already knew where she needed to go the moment the pain started two days ago. This place was not unfamiliar to her either, since she had come here several times just to bring Lena food, wait for her to finish work, or pick her up after a long day at the clinic. It was just that this time, walking into the clinic felt much harder because, for the first time, she was not here as someone who wanted to see Lena after work. A few minutes later, the receptionist called her name. Miu quickly stood up, grabbed her bag, and followed the directions toward the inner hallway of the clinic. The farther she walked, the clearer the familiar sign became, until she finally stopped in front of a white door with a small nameplate beside it. Dr. Lorena Lalina Schuett. Miu stared at the name for a few seconds. Her hand lifted to knock, but stopped in midair before slowly dropping again. She took a quiet breath, held her cheek as it throbbed once more, then looked at the door again with the expression of someone wondering if she still had a chance to run away. She really shouldn’t be nervous. She knew the woman behind that door better than she knew just a doctor. But that was exactly why Miu knew what was going to happen the moment Lena saw the condition of her teeth, especially after hearing the same warnings over and over about eating too many sweets, drinking things that were too hot or too cold, and her habit of always thinking every problem could simply be put off until tomorrow. Miu finally knocked twice. A few seconds later, the door opened from the inside. A nurse stood there with a friendly smile. “Come in. The doctor has been waiting for you.” Miu returned her smile with a small one of her own, though she looked much more nervous than she wanted to. She nodded, then stepped inside while gripping the strap of her bag a little tighter. Inside the room, Lena was still looking down at the notes from her previous patient. Her hair was neatly styled, her white coat was perfectly in place, and one hand held a pen that occasionally moved across the paper as she marked something down. She didn’t even look toward the door right away when the nurse let the next patient in. Until the sound of footsteps came closer. Lena finally looked up. Her eyes immediately stopped on Miu. Not because she was surprised. And not because she didn’t expect to see her. Lena’s expression simply went blank within seconds. Miu gave her a small smile. A very small one. A smile that clearly carried a hint of guilt. Lena looked her up and down, then returned her gaze to Miu’s face. There was no food in Miu’s hands, no jacket of Lena’s that she usually brought when picking her up, and definitely none of her usual relaxed expression. There was only one hand pressed against her cheek. Lena immediately knew. Miu wasn’t here to bring her lunch. She wasn’t here to pick her up. And she definitely wasn’t here just because she felt like bothering her during work. Something was wrong with Miu’s tooth. Lena slowly placed her pen down. “Miu.” Just her name. But the way Lena said it immediately made Miu’s nervous smile grow wider. “Hi, Doc,” she greeted, trying to hide how nervous she was. The nurse beside her looked between the two of them, completely unaware that the patient who had just walked in was the person Lena talked about the most during her breaks. ——————— #LenaMiu #LalinaLena #MiuNatsha #AU #fyp The Continuation ⬇️
