This is someone who stopped enjoying *new* music around 1997. That’s fine, music evokes the memories they’re connected to…teen to late 20s are the richest years for core memories. What they’re missing is their youth and it’s easier to blame how music has changed.

Music journalists and critics are still things that exist. You can absolutely still let someone else do the work of sifting through piles of albums and EPs whittling it down to the good stuff. Just don't a few reviewers who have similar taste and they'll happily and regularly suggest new music to you that they like
