I have a similar theory to someone named Anon here in this comment section. I think this message came from way back, way before the traveler arrived on Teyvat. I thought of it as the past and present crossing each other, I think the message is also the reason why they found Teyvat however I don’t really have any explanation for that. This might be inconsistent but it’s what I think. This world quest is REALLY interesting.

My theory suggests that it was a message from the past long before they landed to teyvat(the first message and not the current one). As they said because of the firmament block that message from the twins from reaching the moon and also due to the system being corrupted maybe long before the traveler responds to it this explains why the message didn't get received until they fixed it today. This can be supported by the conversation that the traveller and Columbina in the "Travelers's Crater". Sorry for my grammar

CMIIW, I think they already explained this. When they went to the Traveler's ship, they found several data logs. Before Ninnin, there were several predecessors who had already sent messages into space, and the Traveler eventually received one of them. Then the Traveler probably sent a reply back, but because the signal was so bad, the message only reached them now.
