Media literacy really is a lost form. This is a poetic ending for Jennifer. She and Needy were connected through their friendship. Needy pulling the chain off Jennifer is symbolic of their friendship being over but also the literal end of Jennifer’s life. The chain was Jennifer’s anchor to the world, to her humanity (in a way) and to Needy. Needy energetically grounded Jennifer, allowing the demon/succubus (whichever you prefer) to be able to stay in a host body that was not “prepared for it”. The ritual required a virgin which Jennifer was not, which resulted in something taking root in her body. Needy breaking the chain means that she broke the last part of Jennifer’s soul’s link to her own body=killing her. Needy getting some powers and getting revenge was just the icing on the cake

I think it was to symbolise how connected jennifer and needy were cuz (if i remember right) throughout the entire movie needy could always sense jennifer and probably the other way around. So in order to kill jennifer needy had to break that bond. Idk might be a reach tho
