@mikejeffreyphoto: Building a website → so people book you → so you can practice = the wrong way to do things! I know it's easier to update your website than practice your photography, but the easiest thing isn't always helping. When you're just starting photography, you need to practice. You need to spend more time doing callouts and getting free work. More time learning your craft. Trust me, the work will come but you have to focus on the right things. #weddingphotography #photographywebsite #photographybusiness
Completely disagree. Anyone with a brain won’t have done a wedding until they’re a competent photographer, I did 2 years of birthdays, christenings, events, couples shoots, model shoots before even attempting a wedding. And after that first one, the bookings started coming in an I needed a way to track them and have a decent website fast. So yes it’s an important question. If you’re out learning flash still or needing friends to practice manual settings on or something (unless you’re trying something creatively new) you shouldn’t be doing weddings. After I’d done my first wedding, if I didn’t have a decent system in place to get those bookings I wouldn’t be where I’m at now.

I can relate to this sometimes but it is not the easiest all the time starting from scratch and trying to get clients. I’m in the situation where my friends don’t have time to model and finding strangers is also hard from time to time. So how would I get new clients and get my self out there then?
