@mommad1452: Let’s have this conversation! We aren’t here to judge….lets just talk about it! 💜💜💜 #BookTok #fyp #booktokfypage #questionoftheday #conversation
My personal opinion is that AI is here and not going away and I believe it can be a useful tool with marketing materials and posts and to help out what you have already together for enhancements. But I do not believe anyone should use it for Writing their book. I want to read books that come from a human only and their personal ideas. But other purposes for marketing and posts I think are ok and can pull lore attention which is the purpose of promoting and getting people interested. But again… Just my opinion 😎

My general rule of thumb - as a full time author- is the use of genai when using it to profit from- it should not be used. This includes - Audio narration, ai marketing images and reels, book covers, writing your books, editing your books, character art, etc. - if you use it as a tool for say research, or to plan xyz, that you’re not profiting from - then do with it what you will. The issue is selling and product that you didn’t create, to make money from. That is gross.

I just hate seeing hate accusations to authors. I know some who have been accused of using ai for art that 100% didn’t. I know some who were accused of using it for writing when they did not. Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein was ran through one of those programs that detects AI. And it said it was written by AI. There’s no way! So I hate that some who didn’t use it are accused. A lot of times those accusations come from jealousy. Now with that said I had to have AI help with lettering on my book. The rest no. But I couldn’t get the font to look right and my deadline was coming up. Just for the title stuff. I’m pretty artsy myself and I was frustrated. And couldn’t afford to pay someone just to help with font 😂 now I do for marketing. But I always proof read it and such to check mistakes. Life is busy. I barely had an arc team. I had several sign up but only one actually read it. I luckily had some friends who read since I failed to have people follow through. I reached out to authors for help as I worked on my book. I was blown off or ignored by most. Not even gonna bash cause I know life is busy. I did have one finally help me days before my release. So I had no choice but to turn to ai a couple of times when it came to the font or marketing.

I hate to say it but the big authors, publishers, companies etc use it in marketing if nothing else. Mind you there have been a few covers and books that I have highly suspected of A.I. but they are bigger authors who many love and I would never call anyone out unless I had 100 percent proof.

My opinion is as long as ai didn’t write the book, you do you, boo. I buy a book to read a story a person created and put on the page. Ai written books have no soul. Nothing else really matters to me. I personally only use it to occasionally get an example of what my characters look like in my head. I create my own covers by manipulating stock images. AI is literally built into just about every program and platform used. I understand people are artists, but they are also marketers, so where does it end? I can’t think of a single indie that is making enough on selling books to afford paying someone to do every single thing that needs to be done. This was supposed to be a fun hobby, not something that was going to put me into thousands of dollars of debt. So my marketing is shitty and my covers are mid, but my stories are damn good.

I'll always and forever write my own stories without AI, but use like grammerly to help with spelling, punctuation.
Ai is a wonderful tool for helping an Author to amplify their own hand drawn cover design with colors and shading or wrapping text on a cover especially if you dont have the purchased software to do it yourself or you aren't able to afford a graphic artist/ designer.

I personally feel like AI is reducing the amount of creativity people use and at some point the future generations will rely so heavily on it that they wont know how to be creative with their own mind. not to mention majority of AI marketing that I have seen all look alike and does NOT get my attention. has the opposite effect and I will scroll on past and not even read it

AI is built into so many creative programs. I don’t want a book written or narrated by AI. But there are so many other uses that are helpful. Google AI is very helpful when I ask SIRI a question.

It's a tool. I feel like it's not going away and we're being forced to use it because it literally tries to butt into everything we're doing even if we're not actively trying to use it. I feel like if you're using it to get ideas for your plot, you've crosses a line somewhere.

I dont like AI at all because of the water problem. If they found a better way to cool down the machines then id be fine with it. Ai also dosnt alway give the right awnsers so I don't know if it's good to use for research. If I find out an author uses AI I probably won't buy from them.

I think people need to get over the witch-hunt that is going on over AI. I’ve lived through the dawn of computers and some version of AI has always been around since the inception of it all and it’s not going anywhere. I don’t want to read a book written by AI that someone takes credit for because I want to read someone’s actual words. The covers can be super expensive though, while I think you need to see if you can find someone that you can afford to work with but sometimes people can’t afford 100s of dollars to pay for art. So for me while I prefer human made art because it’s usually a whole lot better I’m more neutral I guess on that topic. Using Ai for helping on ideas for posts and ideas for scheduling or marketing I think shouldn’t be a big deal.

AI is a tool, and like any tool, it can be used ethically and unethically. I use AI for research, but I do not solely use AI for research. I understand that it is not a replacement for a human voice. For my curent WIP I have used AI heavily for research as it takes place in a region of the world i've never stepped foot in. I also read 5 books as research and watched two documentaries, I am not relying solely on it. At the end of the day, there is no blanket statement on Ethical use because everyone will need to draw their own line. Some people do not have a problem useing AI cover art. That is their decision. At the end of the day, I don't think it's the job of authors to gatekeep, it's up to the consumer. If readers want to purchase a book with an AI Cover, they can, they can also choose not to. The readers will make that decision and we as writers must decide what we are ok with for ourselves.

If AI generates anything that more or less wouldn't exist without the user telling it what to generate, then no. That includes marketing materials, content. and the likes. There are multiple types of AI & generally when people complain about AI, it's the generative kind. There is assistive, such as Grammarly, that uses pre-programmed spelling, punctuation, and grammar cues that assist in editing. Then there is AI that runs your algorithms which is search based and preexisting. You also have AI that sifts & analyzes data which most companies have been using for long times, again, this is preexisting data & pre-programmed cues. Gen-AI isn't pre-programmed or pre-existing. It's taking from other sources to generate something new. Then people forget that even AI tells users to double check research results because AI is not fool proof. That's typically where the line exists. Me personally, I think it's unattractive, overshadows creativity, and see AI use as laziness.

AI is not going away. Morally I can't get to terms with AI writing or helping to write a book. I use it for advertising, marketing and scheduling.
Problem is it's going to get worse before it gets better and the market is getting flooded with people writing a book a month with AI whilst I write for a year. So readers will find it more difficult to get to my book.
