@engcountrylife: Summer the Orpington has hatched her ducklings. These are Aylesbury ducklings and it's our first year of hatching them. We are making a number of adaptations which ducklings require that chicks don't. - a bowl of water for drinking as ducklings need to dunk their heads to clear through nostrils - wide trough feeder plus a bowl of wet mash made from their crumb as ducklings beaks scoop rather than peck - They are in a Nestera Duck House (available in our shop www.englishcountrylife.com) which has no perches (little webbed feet), and a low ramp as they find it difficult for the first days to cope with steep inclines. - The care of a proven broody hen who we know will be dedicated. She sat for the full 28 days for incubation (chickens only require 21 days) and she has proven her skills many times in caring for chicks and so far has easily transferred those to the ducklings.
