Not victim shaming at all but the Econlockhatchee River is not for swimming - it is dark and musky. “The river is largely a wild, natural habitat with significant wildlife and environmental hazards.” It’s very important to know where u should jump in for a swim in Florida. Tragic none the less. Condolences to her family, friend and loved ones

I live in Naples, Florida. Next to the Everglades. You have to always be aware of your surroundings, also there are a lot of water moccasins, pythons, brown recluse, spiders, and I’m not even including the bears and Panthers.

I live in Okeechobee. Nuff said. Praying for her family. Gators can hide in literally 2 ft of water. I am a native Floridian, and I swim in POOLS.

I live in hillsborough county, and there are plenty of places to swim and cool off, with alligators. We certainly wouldn't go shoulder deep, and not keep a look out for those sneaky swamp puppies. The signs are up that warn you, its your risk. so sad that people still dont think its a danger. prayers to her family!

Why would you get into any river in FL? Especially if you live in FL and know about the gators?
