One of the most noticeable things about a dysfunctional family, is their double standards. They can criticize and say any negative thing they want about you, but you can't say anything about them. They can hold anyone they want accountable for the tiniest things they see as slights, enforce boundaries, and use consequences, but you can't react to even the worst behavior ever. How dare you hold ANYONE accountable, no matter what they did. You're told to get over it and move on. They and their toxic enablers can harass you for years on end, send nasty texts and messages, etc, but if you DARE even respond, stand up for yourself, disagree, try to prove them wrong or misinformed, or even just tell them to stop, you're told to "STFU" and may even have the law threatened on you, or be accused of "harassment," when they were the ones who "harassed" you to start with. Everything they accuse you of or bully you for, they do themselves, and always do first. I will Never forget how they gave me distance when I needed love.
