The ONLY TIP you need to understand FALSE GRIP! 💪🏼😎 The elusive false grip is often the ‘make it or break it’ element about muscle ups and many will give up working on the latter because they just can’t seem to ‘get the knack’. I’d also like to point out that if you’re being told to: “just do it”, it would do the messenger good to acknowledge the fact that this works well as a slogan for a well known fitness brand but is far from helpful to someone actually trying to learn a new skill. 🤷🏻‍♀️ ✅ False grip is IRREPLACEABLE when learning the slow controlled muscle up. There is no way above the bar or rings when moving slowly without having your hands and wrists providing the leverage and the platform to push off from when you’ve pulled yourself to the correct right. ✅ False grip is a PUSH, just like the HIGH PULL, just like the MUSCLE-UP. The movements that take place during these skills can be likened to closing the car boot - whether slowly or fast, it’s still a push that starts from overhead. And for this, we need solid core, forearm and lat strength. ‼️ To manage your expectations, false grip might take MONTHS to YEARS to unlock and yes, it’s not comfortable. This is because you are strengthening your TENDONS and LIGAMENTS, which require COLLAGEN to recover. And collagen production is inversely correlated with muscle protein synthesis (MPS), which takes on average 48-72 HOURS post-training. So, while your muscles are recovering, your tendons likely aren’t and if you now recognise that you might have been suffering from overtraining, this might be a good time to rethink your training strategy. 💪🏼 ✅ As a final bonus, I encourage the TENNIS BALL method 🎾 and have linked the next video for your convenience. This method helped myself and several of my clients to strengthen their wrists and forearms. Try different elements: DEAD HANG, PULL-UPS, L-SIT HANGS etc and you’ll bulletproof your hands, wrists and elbows for FALSE GRIP. Happy training! #falsegrip #muscleup #calisthenicstraining #calistenia #calisthenicsuk
