It literally means "breaking the fast"—which just means eating your very first meal after a long night of sleeping! Today, eating in the morning is like putting fuel inside a car. It wakes up our bodies and gives us the energy to run around, play, and learn at school. But a long time ago, breakfast was even more important for survival. Before we had modern machines, tractors, and trucks, people had to do all the hard work using just their hands. They woke up before the sun to farm the fields, build houses, and walk everywhere. Without a giant morning meal, their bodies would completely run out of energy before lunchtime. This is exactly why traditional breakfasts around the world are so big and filling. From the heavy beans in Egypt and the hearty eggs and sausages in England, to the dense breads in Morocco, every culture created a plate designed to keep workers strong for hours. Even though we don't have to farm the fields before school anymore, these plates are still a delicious reminder of how our ancestors used to live.
