As an American. You don’t have to tip everywhere. A lot of places have added expected tipping at check out. Food service with a waiter/waitress, food delivery or cab service sure. But things like coffee and takeout food that you pickup, no.

20% became custom because it’s easier to do the math in our heads. But 18% is generally customary. We also have tipping fatigue here in the 🇺🇸

I’m sorry, but we used to just tip our weight staff and bartenders and now it seems everybody expects a tip. It’s it’s kind of crazy because there are times I don’t know who to tip either and I thought the generous rate was 20% and a normal tip rate was 15%.

tipping is really bad here in South florida. i walk into Duncan, walk to the counter. order my coffee, when i pay they demand a tip?? for what????

Do not tip in drive through's or when you're going into a fast food place. To grab your food yourself because they earn a minimum wage. Don't tip taxis. Uber and Lift are different.
