I’m still unlearning you. Still catching myself speaking about you like you’re somehow still part of my life. Still reaching for my phone whenever something happens before reality quietly reminds me that you’re no longer the person I’m supposed to tell first. And I hate how natural you became to me. I hate that your voice became something my mind memorised. That even now, after everything, I still know exactly how you’d react to certain things. I still hear your opinions in my head sometimes. I still find pieces of you in parts of my day you probably don’t even realise you touched. You became routine to me without either of us noticing it happening. That’s why losing you didn’t feel sudden. It felt like slowly having to detach you from every part of my life, one memory at a time. And honestly, I don’t think you understand how hard it is pretending to be okay while doing that. Because people hear “breakup” and think it’s just sadness. They don’t see the part where I have to train myself not to look for you anymore. Not to wonder what you’re doing. Not to imagine telling you things. I’m still teaching myself that I can experience life without bringing you into it afterwards. And maybe that’s what makes this so painful. You weren’t just someone I loved. You became part of the way I existed.💔
