Rare’s big aesthetic shift from bubbly, bright, and vibrant to this clean minimalist look is kinda making me believe those allegations that they’re trying to keep up with Rhode 😭 even the whole outdoor, summer, foodie vibe too. They used to have more studio-curated marketing, so the switch feels pretty noticeable. 🥲

I’ve tried almost every product from both brands. I’ve never had a quality issue with any of my rhode products but the only rare product I actually like is the blush. the lip gloss/stain or whatever to me was super watery and had a nasty taste. i feel like rhode is a lot easier for beginners to use and is slightly more original and is the blueprint for what a lot of brands now offer. no hate to either woman because i love them both, i just prefer rhode based off my personal experience using both brands

Notice how Rhode shows more of Hailey's face. Rhode sells Hailey's aesthetic. Rare Beauty sells a message that consumers can see themselves in. That's why Rare feels like a brand that can outlast it's founder, while Rhode is still closely tied to Hailey's image.
