@itvnews: Millions of women with polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS) will be offered an annual review to help monitor their condition. It follows draft guidelines issued by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. PMOS, formerly known as polycystic ovarian syndrome , is a lifelong condition that affects between three and four million women in the UK. Common symptoms include irregular or absent periods, acne, weight gain, and both excessive hair growth and hair loss. #pmos #pcos #womenshealth
That is an amazing first step but we still do not have medication that is actually prescribed specifically for PCOS/PMOS meaning we still have to pay for diabetes medication even though it treats PCOS

It’s a good step forward but well overdue. A yearly review is great, how they treat you will be the most important. I’ve had PCOS/PMOS for 10 years, I’m trying to conceive and the communication between departments is ABYSMAL. The NHS is definitely under pressure but being thorough for women and their treatment will stop us having to make more appointments, costing the NHS more money. The money needs to go directly into research and making treatment more accessible. Women need to be heard and not dismissed. This is just my opinion but I’m sure many others agree.

Lifelong conditions should have lifelong checkups, it’s great this is happening but why wasn’t it already?

How about letting women who have pcos and have problems with their weight also be added to the list to be able to be prescribed GLP1, I’m now in perimenopause and gained so much weight iv gained nearly 5 stones and I have a healthy diet, it’s a symptom of pcos and affects your overall health..

Yearly reviews? But it takes 20 years to get a diagnosis? 🫠

I was diagnosed in 2009, said the only treatment was fertility treatments. I wanted the other treatments for weight, hair, health. they said no.

yearly reviews are not enough, we need research into better treatments and access to glp1s

Getting diagnosed in the first place is a nightmare! I am treated but no one will actually put down the diagnoses. Even tho I have two off label meds for it 🤷♀️

This a step in the right direction but what is their plan to mitigate these symptoms? When are GLP-1s going to be offered through the NHS? I’ve spent nearly £3k on mounjaro for the luxury of losing weight just to put my health in a better place and reduce my risk of other conditions.

When will we get real help with weight loss, I don't think it's fair to have the BMI requirement so high to get help.

I look forward to being told once a year that unless I’m trying to conceive there’s nothing they will do. As if that is the only thing that matters.
