I insist that is the route the salary negotiation portion of this discussion takes." Then if they dont get there, just leave, its such a weirdly solid indicator of company culture.

It’s so dumb as well. If there is no salary advertised, but the job turns out to be exactly what you want, you might end up pricing yourself out
