@connectwithgrowth: This Is What Happens to a Baby When Love Isn’t Safe. Most people assume that if a baby is fed, clean, and physically safe, they will naturally develop. René Spitz's observations revealed something far more unsettling. The babies in these institutions received food, nappies, and routine care, yet many gradually stopped exploring the world around them. Their curiosity faded, their movements slowed, and their faces became emotionally flat. The reason wasn't a lack of physical care. It was a lack of consistent emotional connection. A baby's brain learns whether the world is safe through responsive interactions with caregivers. When those interactions are missing, energy shifts away from exploration and toward protection. What looks like quiet behavior can sometimes be a nervous system that has stopped expecting connection. #food #emotionalneglect #childdevelopment

Josee :
‘Still face’ video will always have an impact on me. It really sends the message clearly about attachment. It’s part of psychology training etc, but should be shown to actual parents, before they give birth too.

i will forever love the documentation we have on child psychology. going and doing my own research because it's a field i so desperately want to get into as someone who was a traumatized child will always feel so weirdly validating. the still face experiment has got to be one of my most favorite documentations on how aware a baby is about his/her surroundings

My toddler accidentally made a mess the other day and calmly responded “it’s okay, accidents happen” as she proceeded to clean it up…and for once I actually felt like I was doing something right as a parent 🥹

Every child deserve good and loving parents, but not everyone deserves to be a parent.

JudyB :
But, just because they didn't play with the toys doesn't automatically mean something's wrong, right? Some babies are just serious. Some babies are shy around people other than their parents, or uncomfortable in a strange environment. So how do you know that their behavior is abnormal, and not just their personality?
