@rookie.wanders: Taisho-ike to Chōgatake (2677m) Route Stats (from my Garmin): ⏱️: 7 hours 20 mins 📏: 18.67km ⛰️: 1323m gain, 163m loss ⛺️: Chōgatake Hütte Day 0️⃣: To access this hike, I took the Limited Express train from Shinjuku Station (Tokyo) to Matsumoto Station the day before. Day 1️⃣: Catch the earliest bus (National Park Liner) which departs from Matsumoto Bus Terminal at 5.30 am and arrives at Kamikochi Bus Terminal at 7 am. It will be a relaxing walk along the Azusa River from Taisho-ike all the way to the Tokusawa Camping Ground, where the hike truly begins. It is a steep climb from the Tokusawa trailhead but amazing views await you at the top. Once you've reached Chōgatake Hütte, soak in the views, check in and enjoy some rest. Tips: - I started my hike from Taisho-ike as it was my first time visiting Kamikōchi. You can choose to drop off at Kamikochi Bus Terminal instead and save yourself around 3 km. - I did this hike in September where daylight hours were shorter, so make sure to start early and check in to the huts by 4 pm. - There is some etiquette to follow for mountain huts in Japan, so make sure to read up and follow them! Feel free to drop a DM or comment down below if you have any other questions! Stay tuned for Day 2!
