I wouldn’t pay £200 to have dinner with anyone tbh 😅

Honestly, wedding prices are outrageous. All the unnecessary stress leading up to the big day is completely pointless. Have a small intimate ceremony and sail off into the sunset because, in the end, you’re not having fun... you're paying for everyone else to enjoy themselves.

i wouldn’t pay $200 to have dinner with my parents so i’m not sure that’s really a good marker for that lol

This is amazing as long as you really are the one footing the bill for everything. I think that’s very fair….

I don’t get the parents’ friends thing. I’ve had people I’ve never met or know their names all appear at my baby shower, all friends of in laws & I wouldn’t have chosen that for my private family baby shower let alone my wedding. If parents are using their cash offerings towards a wedding by means of automatic rights to then invite a bunch of their mates that aren’t even in our lives, then that I would rather respectfully not accept the cash to begin with. Thats just weird to me

idk if this tikok is too old to to ask, but how does one have a good wedding if they have to invite our of obligation? I'd have to invite my mother if she's alive when I get married but I want her nowhere near

We had guests moan that we didn't chase them up after the RSVP date, sorry bigger fish to fry at the moment.

Pay to play was the reason my first wedding was canceled 🙃

I’m gonna have a dry wedding, my father says it’s not a good idea. He thinks people will cancel because they don’t have a say in wether they can drink or not. 😅

I get not inviting people you don't want to pay for, but why bother letting guests have a +1 if you're then going to vet them and potentially turn some down? surely less rude and easier to just only invite people you want and not include any +1

If you’re making the planning about everyone else… it’s not a wedding. Do something simple. Have fun. Bollox to everyone else.

If you don’t invite me with +1 I understand, but I am not coming. I’m an adult, you want your guests to have fun and not feel alone. The basic manners is +1. Of course my gift needs to cover their plate also.

My wife and I took six people with us to Vegas and we got married. It cost 3500 dollars and we have never regretted it for a second.

GAK :
@GAK: We used the 3 year rule - if we hadn’t met the person within the previous 3 years of the wedding, they were not invited. That rule also applied to family, so no obligations to follow. Hassle free

Rude but necessary. Except for the parent’s friends part. My parent’s friends are like family to me. Not all but many of them so I would never do that.

Yeah all these rules are dumb had 150 people at my wedding, we gave +1’s, our parents invited their friends, no tier system and we definitely reminded people about RSVP’s because life gets hectic and people forgot.
