my son was diagnosed when he was 3 years old, hes 12 now. HATE when people make comments on what he can eat or the "diabetes on a plate" comments on certain food photos thinking they are funny 🙈

I wish people really understood that I can't do unplanned brisk walks when we meet up...like everything requires planning. I need juice etc. My own sister forgets this!!!

I take my hat off to anyone who lives with T1. I only dealt with gestational diabetes and was SO over the constant level checking by the end I would cry!

The most annoying comment I get is “Do you have the high kind or the low kind?” Like huh? There’s a difference? Well I guess I have both then 🤯

I've learnt so much about type 1 diabetes from you. I was definitely very ignorant to it and thought people on it couldn't eat certain things, but you've been a great role model to show you can still do and eat what you like, but you have to monitor it and have insulin. ❤️

I wish I knew how important it was to look after yourself when diabetic, I was diagnosed at 11. I’m now 35 and have stage 5 kidney disease due to poor diabetic control x

I also hate the fact not many people to this day understand how bad being diabetic and how serious and quick things can change xx

My little girl was diagnosed last week she is 4 years old and oh my god I never realised the daily and 24/7 care that is required living with this illness. I am so lucky we both have lots of support around us . Really admire you lot with diabetes type 1 🩷🫶

Also a big one for that I wish I knew is that complications are influenced by genetics too! when I got a diagnosis of background retinopathy I was beside myself and so disappointed, but people in support groups pointed out to me that there are people who are type 1 for 40 years who aren’t amazingly managed and they never get complications. it’s not always our fault!
