I’ve been a PS user since I was a kid playing Spider-Man on the PS1. I never thought this was a possibility, but if Xbox competes with PlayStation by continuing to keep physical media alive I’m switching over.

I was just telling my brother how I was going to start buying physical games. Because literally if PlayStation bans your accounts that thousand of dollars down the drain. This is saddening we have to protest and petition against this.

This is unfortunate. And Sad Thing is, companies main goals are to make money. If they knew that ending physical production would be a financial strain to them, they would not have done it. And its upsetting to see the % of how many sales of PS software are actually digital and it eclipses physical by a lot. People I know irl, who are hard-core gamers are still like "ehh I havent bought a disc in 10 years". And with these types of situations we are the very vocal minority of people complaining. And to be honest a good 40% of people saying "no im done with gaming" will actually end up biting the bullet and end up still supporting PS going forward still and find ways to rationalize their purchase.

I'm fine with the physical disk ending. only if it means digital ownership becomes the standard. meaning no matter what the f*** Sony does that game never leaves my ability to play it. play it and transfer it between consoles.

It’s not even a PlayStation problem. The Nintendo switch 2 if you buy a physical game from the store the game card is basically a download code. It just downloads it from the store with you insert it. So you NEED internet to play it the first time

It’s like the way those movies are being deleted from people’s libraries because the license expired. You paid for the media and lost it only cuz they lost the license and you rented it technically 😭

then they owe me money because I paid extra for a disc version of PlayStation 5 so that I can buy physical media. they owe me money for making my disc version obsolete at that point
