Nikki did have a thing for bear. Sarah confided in Nikki about how she felt for bear. but she was conflicted, so thats why she asked him straight up if he had feelings for her. when bear fumbles and says "I think we're good friends" she shows relief and disappointment because she now knows that Sarah and bear can have something. the relief comes from now she is able to detache herself from bear and let Sarah have a relationship

i feel like she had a simple crush on bear, not in love. if he had just asked her, i feel like she would’ve given him a chance. but since he was a coward, she lost interest. that’s why when the wish was forced on her, she realized she saw him as a brother. what’s worse is she didn’t have that choice. the choice to leave.
