I was told I was a top applicant and I was last to be interviewed. They said they’d reach back by the end of week. It has now been a week and a half with zero response or update. I sent a professional follow up that was direct and it’s been two days. I’m exhausted with this job market .

Ok I interviewed Monday and sent a thank you email about 8 hours after the interview. It’s now Friday and wondering if I should send the “am I still in contention?” email given that they didn’t tell me a specific date. They just said they have a few more interviews after mine but they’re narrowing it down to the top 1-2 for the final interview with the CEO.

I don’t follow up. If they want me, they will reach me, if not, then I am clearly not at the top of their list.

Did somebody ever got a real/specific feedback after getting rejected apart from the generic “we went in another direction “ type of shit?

I’ve noticed a pattern in my last three or four interviews. Once I hear, “We’re still interviewing other candidates, and we’ll get back to you in a few days,” and don’t sense much enthusiasm from the hiring manager, I feel like I’ve already been eliminated and won’t move on to the next round.
Is that just my perception, or has that been your experience as ? I’d genuinely love to hear your perspective.

Great phrasing “am I still in contention for the role?” Thank you!

After final round, when u dont have their emails, do you just thank recruiter and gently ask to pass on thanks? Rather than trying to msg each interviewer

Hi Missy, love your content. Quick question: I already have an offer, but it’s not from my top-choice company (the role/ pay is like 1/2 of my top choice). My top choice is through a very proactive third-party recruiter, and I’ve already told the recruiter about my other offer (just not the role or salary). In this situation, should I follow up directly with the company’s HR to let them know I have an offer and ask if they can speed up the decision, or should I let the recruiter handle it? For your context I finished final rounds of both companies approximately the same time, just happened to get an offer from the 2nd choice first. Thanks!!

I also got the “we’re interviewing other candidates” response, which, in my experience, usually isn’t the best sign.
It was a one-hour interview for a Senior Director role, but they only asked five broad questions with almost no follow-ups. I spent the last 30 minutes asking about the operation and the team.
My resume came through a corporate referral, so part of me wonders if they were simply honoring the introduction. The recruiter also said she’d follow up on Monday, and I haven’t heard anything.
Looking back, I wonder if I should have expanded more on my answers. At the same time, without follow-up questions, I didn’t want to come across as someone who talks too much. What’s your take?

So I had an interview on May 27th, and today is July 1st. I have heard nothing. I sent an email on June 26th directly to HR, and have still not received a response.

If they tell you upfront the interview steps meaning they say they won’t be back in touch until the next week during the interview and you also at the end of the interview thanked them for the opportunity and time do you still send that 24-48 hour thank you email?

What if the end of the interview, the hiring leader said- to be fair to other candidates, we will need to finish all interviews first and then give feedback to everyone afterwards. Is that a bad sign?

Should I email the person that I interviewed with last? Or the hiring manager that they told me would be reaching out? For context, they said they would reach out by the beginning of this week and it’s now Wednesday afternoon. Thoughts?

I followed up twice with the recruiter in the time frame she gave me. After the second email, she responded that she hadn't heard back from the hiring manager. In this case I followed up a 3rd time, but normally only twice.

Thank you emails are so asinine when that same company can’t even provide the most basic communication post interview.
