Planning for this event started back in 2016 with the bipartisan group America250 being formed and enlisted help from major festivals like Burning Man and Farm Aid. The Smithsonian cultural festival occurs every year but this had been a 10 year plan to make this one huge. Trump created a rival party planning committee on January 29th, 2025 which took over and scrapped years of planning for his "Great American State Fair."

My daughter just went on a school trip to DC and New York. They took her to this fair. She said our local carnivals are like Disneyland compared to this fair. She said it was so bad it has to be explained in person to accurately convey how horrible this fair was.
