@fulltime.freebirds: Alaskan Cabin Build: Part 1 🪚🏔️ We realized pretty quickly that running to the woods at 2am for a bathroom break in grizzly country is not fun… to say the least. We’ve also officially hit peak mosquito season (I’m talking completely swarmed anytime of day or night) so getting caught with our pants down just wasn’t an option anymore. We decided that an outhouse needed to be our first wooden structure on the new property! Problem is, we don’t have power or a generator on the lot yet. So after a quick Home Depot run for materials and scrounging Marketplace and thrift stores for some tools, we improvised and found a dirt parking lot in town with free (borrowed 😎) power! Back on the property, we started digging and building. We chainsaw milled some 4x4 posts using some downed trees for the base which saved us around $30. We had to make a few adjustment cuts with the chainsaw, but the walls came together nicely which was a huge relief. The drill battery ran out in the middle of the build, but thankfully old school tools like a crescent wrench and screwdriver never run out of juice. A few hours later and we had her all pieced together! We still have some finishing touches, but overall we have a functional and practical bathroom sanctuary.
