I seriously doubt you could actually find a painter that cuts a hole in the lid!

Kool idea in theory but not realistic. I stick to a big wet rag or trim a lid/cardboard.

Ummm, most 5 gallon paint buckets have a 2.5” screw cap…and suction and primer goes in easy…lil bit of plastic and it’s sealed …even overnight

@David's SKOL&BONES :
yeah I see it being handy if you have it but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it or I got free lids off of every 5 gallon can that I can literally like you said just cut a little gap in it and throw a wet rag over it It does the same job we would destroy that lid within so many uses and I would just have to buy another one Good idea just ain't worth money

I like it , we leaving paint in machine with the cut hole lid and rag , but this is better as far as keeping paint from skimming, changing colors or fixing a clog on pick up screen might be aggravating 😬

That lid is cheap. Your machine is not clean your machine every time. Unless they Warranty enough that they will buy you a new machine I wouldn’t believe it.

Your design leaves a few critical things that should have been considered.
1. It will not drain a 5 gallon bucket completely even if tilted.
2. It does not provide for self cleaning ( for either water or thinner based paints )
3. It will not completely eliminate the splatter from the spray gun back into the bucket.
4. It makes cleanout a longer process because it increases the tools and surface areas ( the lid, gromets and caps ) that need to be cleaned.
5. Paint is going to build up in those gromets and in the seal to the bucket over time and you will lose these seals, even if you clean it every use.
Bottom line:
YOUR DESIGN SUCKS.
