the 512 GB version is about $200 cheaper than a brand new X with an OLED. Can always buy an SD to expand memory. the X is nice tho.

This does depend on what you want btw. If you want an out of box more console like experience without having to deal with windows a Steamdeck is usually the better option but installing steamOS I’ve heard is pretty easy. I had an ally then sold it to get a Steamdeck but it is all preference at the end of the day.

The steam deck is still worth it for the OLED screen. Whatever hypothetical performance gain you would get out of another handheld depends heavily on the game you are playing. If you’re someone that plays heavy games on console/PC and lighter games on handhelds, then the steam deck might still give you the best possible user experience.
