I love this theory and have been thinking about it for a while. And inevitably you think "Well, where did that first universe come from? How can something come from nothing?". What if the real illusion is that concept of nothing. If this theory is right the default state is something, existence, matter. Nothingness is then a construct created by perceptions of the human brain, the absences we have while asleep or unconscious. Just because we aren't conscious at any point in time doesn't mean that the universe does, or has ever, stop.

Nope already disproven. Inside a black hole all atoms would be ripped apart and it would just be a giant soup of disassembled atoms making a nearly infinitely dense mass. Nothing can survive being in a black hole so black holes cannot contain anything. Especially given the observable universe is expanding at the speed of light, black holes are not expanding, that is what negative mass does.

Every time I think about the universe, I get shivers. The scale of it makes me realise how insignificant we are, and somehow that’s comforting. On a tiny planet in an unimaginably vast cosmos, most of the things we argue over seem meaningless. If there’s any purpose to our time here, I think it’s to look after the planet that sustains us, treat each other with respect, and keep learning from one another. Everything else feels like noise.
