While I get where you’re coming from, I truly do. I fully understand your perspective. As a Muslim, I feel it’s my duty to say this:
Women are of immense value in Islam, often honored even more highly than men in many contexts. One of the most revered figures in our faith is a woman. In authentic Islamic teachings, women are to be respected and honored. They are not meant to be disrespected, treated as property, or “owned.” Marriage in Islam is a partnership built on mutual rights and responsibilities.
For example, the husband is obligated to provide for the household, while anything the wife earns is entirely her own. Even in countries like Saudi Arabia, which many people consider among the most conservative Islamic societies, women serve in government, the private sector, the military, the police, and many other fields.
What I truly dislike is when people use my religion as an excuse to belittle or oppress women. While I believe it is my responsibility as a man to protect the woman I will one day have the honor of sharing my life with, that does not make her lesser than me. If anything, she is the one to be cherished and valued.
