If your child qualifies for the $1,000 government contribution (children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028), I’d absolutely take the free money. Free money is free money. But once a child has earned income, I’d personally lean toward a Custodial Roth IRA for several reasons: ✅ Higher annual contribution limit (subject to the child’s earned income) ✅ Investments can grow tax-free ✅ Qualified withdrawals in retirement are tax-free ✅ Contributions (not earnings) can generally be withdrawn without taxes or penalties, giving families more flexibility One of the biggest lessons I want Enzo to learn isn’t which account is “best.” It’s that starting early is what builds wealth.
