@foodparables: Weigh Your Flour Dipping a measuring cup into flour and packing it in can add 20 to 30 percent more flour than the recipe actually calls for. A scale takes the guesswork out completely. One cup of AP flour is 120 to 125 grams. Every time. That is the difference between a dense biscuit and a light one. 📌 Today's Verse: "A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight." Tbh I don’t think most recipes that come from home cooks used a scale lol. I can guarantee when my grandma said use a cup of sugar she didn’t break out her scale 😂

The rest of the world uses grams but the point of the “cup” measurement system was to do things proportionally. So it didn’t matter what cup you used, the ratio should still be correct if you used the same cup for all the other measurements.

There’s also a difference in USA “cup” to other countries. For example * 1 US cup (236.6 mL) ≈ 237 g * 1 Australia cup (250 mL) ≈ 250 g

if you don't want to weigh, at least sift the flour & spoon it into the dry measuring cup instead of scooping.

Or you waterfall the flour into the measuring cup so the measurement is accurate and quick.
