Book cover artist here! If a client wants the cover (for promo or other) soon and they are not done editing I usually allow them to give me an estimate page number. I write in my contract that I will alter the spine when they have the exact page number (cost free ofc!). Also Ingram does have templates :)

I’m currently making mine. I have several options from digital art to using a stock photo and editing it on canva and honestly I feel like whatever works best for you but I personally do it myself
