Here are 5 things that usually cause it: 1. Too many orders at once. Bespoke work is hands-on. If there’s a wedding season, festive rush, or school reopening period, every customer wants their outfit “urgently”. Your piece ends up in a queue. 2. Fabric or material issues. The main fabric, lining, buttons, zippers, or interfacing didn’t arrive on time. Or the fabric had a defect and they had to source a new batch. 3. Fittings and alterations take longer. If the first fitting shows major adjustments are needed - shoulders off, waist tight, sleeves long - the tailor has to undo and redo work. That adds days. 4. Power outages & equipment problems. Especially in places like Accra, frequent “dumsor” cuts, sewing machine breakdowns, or overlocker issues can halt work for hours or days. 5. Personal/emergency reasons. Tailoring is often a small shop or one-person business. Sickness, family emergencies, or staff being absent can push all deadlines back.
