Ohhhh this one is for me. I’ve had conversations with my therapist about this and I think that the approach that has helped me make peace with feeling stuff is to see those feelings as tools. Basically, whenever something happens that triggers such feelings, I should not see them as something to be ashamed of or as a liability, but as INFORMATION. By this I mean that triggering these feelings and letting yourself feel them, you are receiving information about yourself — Why does this hurt? What memory is causing me to have these feelings? In what part of me does this feeling settle in?

No emotion lasts more than a few minutes. Reminding myself of that helps me allow myself to feel my pain ❤️

Side quests. Any new challenges for your mind or body. The roller coaster will exist. Let your body and mind exist at different paces.

I needed this lol but I read somewhere that it only takes 60-90 seconds to fully process an emotion. But we usually distract ourselves from sitting with it so it gets trapped in our body. Lately I’ve been setting a 3 minute timer and I let myself feel it in my body, the anger, grief, etc. anytime my mind tries to wander I focus back on the pain in my chest or where I’m feeling the pain. I hold myself & afterwards remind myself that I can feel the hard things & still be safe in my body, I think the key is to keep doing this overtime but baby steps lolol

I sooooo get this 🫶🏽 it gets better!! But writing out what I wish I could tell them or what I’m feeling at the moment. No structure, just whatever comes out. It’s soooo freeing.

Make a breakup playlist, whatever song reminds you of the situation, and listen to it when you feel like you should let it all out, it really helped me

So same girl, me too, specifically rn with my wife leaving me for my fam(her affair)—bad heartbreak… but like I get you. Another form of “not feeling our feelings” & “repression” is by saying “I’m Sad BECAUSE OF”…. Instead of just focusing solely on our self and our feeling… my therapist recently told me I was “detaching” in that way.. & I truly was like, “damn I know I’m logical but I really thought I was feeling my feelings fully bc I know how to be emotional and I am emotional too.” But it’s real. Bc in moment I JUST feel my feelings, I don’t put words to it, I just feel it… but by trying to label it right in the moment—it’s almost a form of detachment from it🫡🙂↕️🙂😅
