@sophie.riichards: For 5 years, I genuinely thought these things were TRUE!! I didn't question them because they came from the people I trusted most with my health…BUT when my pains got so bad that I ended up in hospital, I knew something was wrong! "It's just a bad period" "You're too young to have endo" "Pregnancy will cure it" "A hysterectomy will cure it" Every single one of these delayed either my diagnosis and/or treatments - and made me doubt myself - keeping me stuck in pain for longer than I needed to be. I want to point out that I don't hate doctors!!! I've met some incredible ones who have changed my life. But the system isn't set up to support women with complex conditions, and too many of us slip through the cracks because of outdated information and a lack of training in women's health. If you've heard any of the lies I’ve been told, you need to know that you're not crazy, your symptoms are real…AND you deserve answers, not dismissal. I cannot tell you how important it is to see a SPECIALIST in your condition, and advocate for yourself fiercely! Save this for the next time you need reminding, and send it to someone who's still fighting to be believed. #endometriosis #womenshealth #medicaladvocacy #chronicillness #endometriosisawareness

If anyone tells “you’re too young,” tell them they’re not informed. I was diagnosed at twelve and it was confirmed with surgery by 13. Not only that, I just had my second surgery for reoccurring endometriosis, and it looks like that will be my reality every two to five years until I hit menopause.

I was diagnosed last year and when I went to my OBGYN because i had run out of all other specialists she told me i was to young to have this disease. I got diagnosed 3 months later with endometriosis. Absolutely insane

Sophie! You’re actually inspiring to speak up about endometriosis, I’ve had a baby, and guess what…. It didn’t magically get better like they said it would 😳 and I really want to help women manage expectations postpartum

When I was 13 I started to get pain so bad my legs would go numb, fought to create the best care team that listened, surgery is next Friday and it’s so scary but I’m so hopeful :)

My pregnancy made it X10 around 7months after and I’m still suffering now and that’s nearly 2 years ago. Absolutely wild they still say this now, and they’re still telling me if I have another pregnancy it should make it “better” honestly not ok.
