I do think it’s sweet that he’s your first doll and that he has such a special presence to you. ❤️I wonder if it’s actually a chemical reaction, though. Some paints can react with certain doll materials, causing them to fade or disappear over time. You might try sealing his face before painting, then sealing it again afterward to protect the finish. There are a lot of doll restoration forums that discuss paint adhesion and fading, so it may have a simple explanation rather than anything supernatural.
