Karate Warrior / Il Ragazzo Dal Kimono D'Oro (1987) Featuring Kim Rossi Stuart 🇮🇹 and Jannelle Barretto 🇵🇭 You don't get to see many WMAF films in the Philippines for how common it is over there. This one is clearly, and heavily inspired by Karate Kid 2, which is of course also a WMAF film but set in Japan instead. And obviously, the best one in the series. KK2 was so good that they kept trying in recreating its magic even in its own franchise, with different interracial combinations: First with BMAF in 2010 and more recently with AMWF in 2025, with Karate Kid: Legends. As you can expect, it's just not the same. They don't hold a candle to the original sauce. Back to THIS movie, I'm very surprised that it actually has a supernatural element to it. Sure, the KK franchise itself isn't super grounded either, but in this movie the MC legit uses Haki (from One Piece). Or I guess a better comparison is a technique you'd see in Hokuto no Ken. Speaking of Kens... Ken Watanabe plays the Mr Miyagi mentor figure here, and they did a very good job with the makeup because he's unrecognizable. I've seen multiple edits of this flick focusing entirely on Stuart, because of his good looks, but they picked a very pretty actress too for his love interest too. As you can expect, she or any other Asian girl, never show up again in the sequels, which is why they're not worth watching. This is pretty decent though, I liked it. Although the entire cast is visibly communicating in English, the original dialogue has been dubbed over in both Italian and English versions. The first is a little bit better tbh. For the English dub they clearly didn't even try and did the bare minimum with whatever was around in the 80s. So, if you wanna watch it, you'd have to bear the extremely cheap dubbing #wmaf #kino #edit #afam #kimrossistuart
